My Philosophy

In both mental health and nutrition therapy I consider myself to be a client-centered, holistic and functional therapist.  I create an atmosphere that supports and empowers my client, while collaboratively developing steps for reaching identified goals (client-centered).   Rather than separating out the problem(s) or symptoms to manage, I aim to support the entire person, understanding that the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual all work in conjunction (holistic).  For me, being a functional clinician means that I view clients from an investigative lens of reaching their individualized optimal health, by addressing core concerns, and utilizing the power of lifestyle and dietary changes as the heart of our work (functional medicine).   I hope that with our work together, you thrive in both health and happiness.

Mental Health Therapy:  You are more than a diagnosis.  You are more than a symptom. Together we will enhance your strengths, develop your self-awareness, and promote skills to empower your personal growth towards the best version of yourself. My therapeutic approach includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical-behavioral skills training, stress reduction techniques, and mindfulness.  Understanding my client’s needs, goals, and personality helps us determine the therapeutic modality that will be most effective.  There is no doubt I will love professionally working with you, and I also do not anticipate that we will be indefinitely having therapy sessions together.  Instead we will set specific monuments to reach, continue to place action to reach these monuments, all while building your skills, and just as importantly confidence, to design the life you deserve to lead.

My specialties include:
-The range of anxiety conditions
-Depressive conditions
-Social/Life skill development
-Life adjustment/transition

Nutrition Therapy:  As a nutrition therapist with a holistic and functional view of health, I use a strong understanding of science and research based medicine to support our path.   For all of my new clients, I complete a very thorough intake assessment to go beyond just the presenting concern to fully get a picture of the whole-person current and past health, lifestyle patterns, and goals.  I encourage my clients to complete a diet diary so I gather an understanding of where we are, to more effectively work on where we need to go.  Although each client’s needs are different I may suggest the use of other tools such as testing for gut infections, imbalance and pathogens, as well as thyroid and hormone dysfunction, HPA axis dysregulation (Adrenal concerns), nutritional deficiencies as well as food sensitivities.  We may decide other services such as cooking classes, meal plans, personalized dietary programs, or supplemental options are of benefit to get you to your goals.  My hope and focus is to get you to a level of sustainable and optimal health that radiates from the inside out.

-Autoimmune Disorder support
-Hypothalamus Pituitary Adrenal (HPA) axis dysregulaton
-Thyroid balance
